Welcome to CHRS, Inc.

Cultural Heritage Research Services, Inc. (CHRS) has been providing comprehensive archaeological, research, and historic preservation services for more than 40 years. We provide these services to energy, telecommunication, transportation and land development industry groups as well as to Federal, State and Local government agencies, private corporations and other organizations. We offer expertise in archaeology, historic structure survey, evaluation and documentation, historical research, exhibit design, and historic preservation procedures and planning.

CHRS’s highly trained and experienced personnel have conducted Section 106 compliance projects of every scope, from preliminary location and identification studies, through the evaluation of National Register of Historic Places eligibility, to large-scale data recovery, architectural documentation, and creative mitigation projects such as illustrated books and documentaries. We have also produced corporate histories, historic preservation planning documents for local governments, and performed work in support of historic restoration and historic development projects.

CHRS has developed a strong on-time record. We have consistently demonstrated an ability to meet tight project deadlines that can help clients avoid costly delays. Our efficiency is the result of a careful blending of experience, commitment to service, and the use of advanced office technologies.

As you will see in the following pages, our three departments—Archaeology, Research, and Historic Preservation—each have their areas of expertise. That is only part of our story. Of equal importance is the continual communication between our staff, which ensures an integrated, interdisciplinary approach that is often missing from the work of others.

We look forward to providing old friends and new friends with a full spectrum of historic preservation and cultural resources management services for many years to come.
